Solar Heating
Solar Hot Water Systems (otherwise known as Solar Thermal) use the sun’s
energy to heat hot water through solar collection panels.
Solar thermal can be used in both residential & commercial applications, storing
water in hot water cylinders until required. This system does not create pollution or
harmful emissions and is extremely economical.
True Energy’s solar hot water system works side-by-side with original water
heating system to ensure hot water is always available from the most cost
effective route available.
From April 2011 the government plans to make annual payments for Solar Thermal under the Renewable Heat Incentive. In addition some local authorities provide grants or interest free loans.
To get these grants and incentives you need to use an MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) certified installer such as True Energy. The steps you need to take are as follows:-
- Contact True Energy for a free consultation regarding your requirements
- Check with your local authority that planning permission is not required (most domestic Solar Thermal installations do not now need planning permission but you need to check). Also check what grants/interest free loans they provide e.g. Powys currently provide up to £3000 interest free loans for installing some renewable technologies.
- You are now ready to go ahead with your installation.
- Later you will need to apply for your Renewable Heat Incentive which is payable from April 2011
