Wind Turbines
Wind turbines are an established
technology for both large scale and
domestic power generation and are
growing in popularity. Wind power is the
world’s fastest growing energy source.
Micro generation (hydro electric, wind)
is especially effective when supplementing
solar devices combining small wind
turbines with solar PV solutions. True
Energy apply this technology to solar wind
powered Street Lights which have proven
to be exceptionally popular both in the
private and public sectors.
True Energy founder Ian Tansley worked
extensively in the environmental impact,
feasibility study and sitting of a wind farm at
Rheidol near Aberystwyth (Wales) which is
now operated by Eon. Rheidol consists of
8 wind turbines at 45m tall these generate
2.4MW of power. This is enough energy to
power over 1000 homes and displaces the
emission of 2712 tones of carbon dioxide
annually.
Ian Tansley the Technical Director at True Energy has also conducted feasibility
studies for 130 turbine farm in southern
Scotland (40MW) and Cemmaes, (7.5 MW),
the first wind farm in Wales.
Wind power is plentiful in many parts of
the world, and can be harnessed safely to
generate electricity, without producing any
dangerous waste or unwanted by-products.
